How It Works
  • Slowly and continuously releases the hormones estrogen and progesterone into the bloodstream.
  • Prevents the ovaries from releasing eggs.
  • Changes mucus at cervix, which prevents sperm from entering the uterus to fertilize egg.

     
How& It's Used
  • One transparent, flexible 2-inch ring is inserted into the vagina once a month for a period of 3 weeks (21 days) and is then removed.
  • A new ring must be inserted after 7 days.

  • Medical risks: Increased risk of blood clots, liver tumors, heart attack and stroke in women with certain risk factors, medical conditions and those who smoke.
